Trailblazing scientists: celebrating 80 years of women Fellows

This event is part of the Royal Society's Summer Science Exhibition 2025.
Join us for a special screening of two short documentaries showcasing trailblazing scientists Dame Kathleen Lonsdale FRS and Dr Marjory Stephenson FRS, the first women elected to the Fellowship of the Royal Society in 1945.
In the documentaries, Dame Maggie Aderin-Pocock, space scientist and presenter of the BBC’s The Sky at Night, joins astrophysicist Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell FRS and biochemist Professor Judy Armitage FRS to uncover the remarkable legacies of these two pioneering scientists.
The documentaries were commissioned by the Society as part of a year-long programme of activities aimed at celebrating, supporting, and inspiring girls and women in STEM.
