Talk: Fighting superbugs with tiny warriors

03 July 2025 12:00 - 12:30 The Royal Society Free Watch online

This event is part of the Royal Society's Summer Science Exhibition 2025.

By 2050, antimicrobial resistance could be responsible for 10 million deaths each year. Antimicrobial resistance occurs when bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites evolve to resist the medicine designed to kill them, making infections harder – or sometimes impossible – to treat. Good viruses, known as phages, are the solution. Unlike human viruses, phages only infect and kill bacteria.

Join Dr Franklin Nobrega, part of the Fighting Superbugs main exhibit, as he explores the power of these tiny warriors that fight superbugs and learn how you can help us save lives.
