Migration checklist

The aim of this checklist to facilitate the smooth transition of your journals account to the Literatum platform.

To reduce the risk of disruption, we have migrated journal entitlements, IP addresses, EzProxy, and Shibboleth, where available. However, we strongly encourage administrators to double check this information ASAP following the launch and notify us of any changes that need to be made. 

Our platform will be launched with the access control wall down to ensure no disruption to content. The access wall will be raised again in early 2019.

An announcement will be sent out shortly before the launch, encouraging all users to familiarise themselves with the new platform’s layout and features. To ensure your account is set up correctly, please perform the simple admin tasks as outlined below.

Before the launch

Users’ access to the HighWire Librarian Portal will remain in place until the launch of our new platform in December 2018. However, any changes made after 14 November 2018 will not be migrated to the new platform.

Download your historic usage data

Please ensure you download all historical usage data before 31 December 2018. Usage reporting via our new platform will only date back to 2017. Any usage data prior to 2017 will be unavailable after the migration on 31 December 2018.

Check and update accounts with correct contact names and emails

Changes made to customer accounts on HighWire after 14 November 2018 will not be migrated to the new platform. This includes IP addresses, institutional logo and administrator details. If you need to update IP details between 14 November 2018 and 31 December 2018, please fill in our IP registration form to ensure all your information is captured.

Post migration

Activate your new account

We will have completed our platform migration on 1 January 2019. To ensure your administrators accounts are properly set up, please complete the following actions:

  • follow the link in the email you receive from Atypon
  • you will be prompted to update your account and create a new password.

Your username will be your email address.

If you receive an error message, please contact access@royalsociety.org.

Once you are logged in as the administrator please check the following information is correct and inform us of any changes:

  • your IP addresses
  • your Shibboleth details
  • your Open URL

Running usage reports via Literatum

Usage reports from 2017 and 2018 will be available the new platform in early 2019. To run usage reports for your institution: 

  1. Log in to the Literatum website
  2. Open the Institutional Administration interface in the user profile.
  3. Select the “Usage Data” section.
  4. Make the appropriate selections and click “Submit reports” request.
